Universe has open mouth casing tongs that incorporates several new patented innovations. These innovations allow us to build the most compact power tongs with the highest torque to weight ratio in the industry. The ideal way to bite anything round is on 3 points. Our casing tongs incorporate a unique 3-point jaw biting system. This ensures equal force at all contact points throughout the full torque range. Universe also has an open mouth tubing tong that utilizes a wrap around biting die technology. This optimizes the torque that may be applied to the tubing helping to eliminate damage. We have a complete complement of options available such as hydraulic / manual backups, lift cylinders, torque gauges or power units. Our hydraulic power units consist of standard brand name motors and hydraulic components hence providing for long life and easy serviceability. They are available with explosion proof, low temperature applications and hose options. We make the Universe air or hydraulic kelly spinners which may be operated in 2 directions, and are totally enclosed with gears in an oil bath lubrication which provides superior operation. Our latest innovation is a closed mouth power tongs utilizing standard industry jaws, which put out up to 50% more torque than our competitors.
